Julie K. Murphy is a partner at Rico, Murphy Diamond & Bean LLP. She has been practicing in the probate and family courts in Massachusetts since 2002. Julie’s practice is concentrated in all aspects of family law issues, either as counsel or as a mediator. Her cases include divorce, custody, support, division of assets, paternity, visitation, grandparent visitation, contempt actions, modifications, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements as well as cohabitation agreements.  Julie is also a certified Parenting Coordinator and she works with parents who struggle with co-parenting issues. 

Julie practices in many counties, including Norfolk, Middlesex, Worcester, Suffolk, Barnstable and Plymouth. She is also a certified mediator and certified parent coordinator. Julie is a participant in the Norfolk Count ARC program (Attorney Representing Children).

Julie is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Family Law Section and a member of Massachusetts Council on Mediation. She has chaired the program “When Estate Planning & Divorce Collide” for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education and is chairing Evidence Admissibility in Family Law Cases in March of 2020.

Julie is an experienced litigator and appears in the probate courts on motions and contempt actions, taking cases to trial when necessary. She is skilled as a mediator and negotiator and whenever feasible, works to settle cases without extensive litigation or court involvement. Julie uses this experience as a Parenting Coordinator to assist parents make the best decisions for their children.

Julie graduated from Suffolk University Law School in 2001, having been inducted into the Rehnquist Legal Honor Society. She graduated cum laude from Northeastern University in 1997. She is active in her community having fundraised for Habitat for Humanity, held several membership positions with business organizations, and is involved with community theater.
