OUR FIRM

Rico, Murphy, Diamond & Bean LLP specializes in estate planning (from the most basic to the sophisticated), administration, probate litigation, family law and mediation. The firm has a great depth of experience advising clients in the preservation, management and disposition of family wealth. In addition to the preparation of wills, trusts and other estate planning documents designed to minimize estate taxes and ensure the disposition of property in accordance with our clients’ wishes, we also assist clients in structuring and implementing lifetime gift strategies (including various types of charitable giving) to further reduce overall transfer taxes. We advise clients with respect to the ownership and disposition of business interests, life insurance policies and other assets, and with respect to death benefits under retirement plans and deferred compensation plans.

As part of our probate litigation practice, we regularly litigate will and trust contests, claims of fiduciary mismanagement and breach of trust and fiduciary duty, questions of intestate succession, probate and trust accountings, fiduciary removal actions, complaint for instructions, trust reformations, petitions for partition, and the many other issues that can arise upon a person’s death and the distribution of his or her assets.

Beyond the representation of individual clients, our attorneys are actively involved in advancing issues of estate and trust law. We have served in leadership roles in the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Section of the American Bar Association and the Taxation Law and Probate Law Sections of the Massachusetts Bar Association. We have presented extensively to other practitioners locally, state-wide, and throughout the country.
